Sammaels Blade Rules for Raiding.

0. Have Fun! - This is supposed to be fun. If any of these rules sound harsh or mean, know that it is solely for the purpose of making sure that all involved have fun. People don't like to wipe, die, or wait 30 minutes for rebuffs. We also don't like to wait 1 hour to start a raid cause you weren't ready on time. So take these rules with a grain of salt, but know that however harsh they may seem, they are for the best with everyones enjoyment in mind.

1. Don't Die - Bring potions (and use them), ask for health stones if you're out. Use stam food, and use all threat reducing abilities. These can and will save your life. You and only you are truly responsible in the end for your own life. Healers are there to help, and are a necessary part of raiding, but even they need a break. The saying goes like this:

If a tank dies - its the healers fault.
If a healer dies - its the Tanks fault.
If a DPSer dies - its his own damn fault.

But regardless of who's "fault" it is that you died, the responsibility of staying alive is ultimately your own. If you're not sure how to stay alive, see rule #2, it helps.

Another sure fire way to greatly increase your survivability is to not pull agro. Agro is when a mob is attacking you rather than the tank, you can prevent having agro by keeping your threat under the tanks threat. This is easily monitored by an add-on called omen. Get it. Use it - it's required in our raids.

2. Bring Consumables - Everyone is required to bring their own reagents, potions, elixirs, flasks, food, etc. to raids. If you don't have them, arrange to get them before the raid starts. We have other people who want to go to raids who are ready on time, so if you need to hearth and be re-summoned, it better be before the raids start time or we will replace you, its not that hard to schedule 10 minutes of prep time into your busy play day.

3. Be On Time - Raid times are listed in server times. They are also listed by "pull time". If a raid is slated for 6:00p server time. That means you need to be on, preped, ready, and waiting for an invite by 5:45p at the latest because the raid starts at 6p - meaning we will be in the instance and buffing and pulling at 6p. So when I say be "on time" I really mean "be early". Don't blow it, other people are ready 'on time' and I am happy to take them if you're not ready.

4. Don't Clutter Up Vent - I think this goes without saying, but hey, if you don't have something urgent to say that will wipe the raid if left unsaid, be quiet, thats what chat and whispers are for.

5. Listen To The Raid Leader - Do not spoil the soup by having too many cooks in the kitchen. There is a single raid leader for each raid, listen to him. He may ask for questions, advise, or even strategies, but in the end, he is still the raid leader and maintaining order is more important than the raid as a whole, so give him respect and he wont globally mute you, kick you from the raid, and then say bad things about you. =)

6. Sign Up For Raids - Group Calendar is a really nice add-on, it makes the raid leaders job much easier when inviting people and planning out raid class composition. Everyone in the guild is required to have this add-on. If you're not sure how to use it please ask an officer. If you don't know where to get it, go here. Please be sure to download it and keep it updated.

7. Stay For The Whole Raid - If you sign up and are invited to the raid, you need to stay for the full duration of the raid. Our raids last from 6-12 server time unless scheduled otherwise. Exceptions can be made under certain circumstance, but don't expect it. Leaving because you are tired or frustrated at wiping is not acceptable. Everyone is frustrated at wiping and we are all tired also. Don't whisper the raid leader a billion times saying you need to go because you have work the next morning. If for some unforseeable reason you really need to leave the raid early, please give as much forewarning as possible and if at all possible stay until a replacement is found, or better yet, find a replacement for yourself before you even mention needing to leave.

8. Guild Raids Before Pugs - Joining a pug run of a raid instance that the guild is scheduled to run is very bad form. Monday is "pug day" for Sammaels Blade. That way if you cant make it to any other raids that week for some reason, you can do whatever you bloody well want on Monday. If you don't think you will make it for a guild run because you have other plans or will be out of town - don't go on a pug anyway. Things change, schedules deviate. You might be able to make it, but if you pug it 1st, and then realize you could've made it, you are hurting yourself and the guild both, so wait till Monday to Pug, thats why its there. If you do feel the need to pug something, get approval from an officer or raid leader first.

9. Don't Wipe - Do your job in a raid. If you're not sure what your job is - ask. I would rather answer 40 'stupid' questions than wipe once because someone didn't know what they were supposed to do and was too embarrassed to ask. If you're still not sure how to accomplish following this rule, please see rule #1.

10. Get Back Quick - Wiping is no fun, no one likes to wipe. The only thing worse than wiping is lingering on a bad wipe. If for some reason you fail to follow rule #9, you will have 5 minutes to get back to the instance, buff up, and get in position. Do not talk about the wipe, do not discuss who's fault it was (thats the job of the raid leader), do not complain, do not be a straggler. It should not take longer than 5 minutes to get back and get ready to pull again. If it does, you have failed at your duties as a good raider and it will be noted by all. You will most likely not be welcomed in upcoming raids in the near future and will be chosen last in line if you are chosen at all.

11. Have Fun - We are all here to have shit loads of fun!!! so if your not having fun you shouldn't be playing the game and wasting 15 bucks a month. We want you to have fun and will do our best to make the guild as fun and enjoyable as possible. If you don't have fun that's minus fucking 50 DKP!!!

Well said Voyd. For anyone who wants a motto: "To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is unacceptable"

For everyone who doesn't know Voyd as well as I do, this is his cuddly side. We are all here to play a game, games are fun. But all games have rules, wow is no exception. If you want to screw off and do stupid things, let us know. Who knows we may do a naked battleground as a group. But raids are not the time to do this kind of stuff.

We are a laid back guild, but that doesn't mean that we are push-overs. Our leadership may be willing to have fun, crack jokes, and occassionally harrass one and other, but we are the leaders and do expect that there be a level of respect.

We would hate to exclude or repremand someone, you pay just as much as we do to play this game, but if what you are doing is detracting from everyone else, we will have to do it. Our recruitment is a good example of this, so long as someone is willing to put forward an honest effort then we will probably extend an invitation.

But enough of my rant, Go play this game we all love, and are possibly a touch addicted to =), and most importantly...

HAVE FUN!!!
